Because of this, I hope CCP produces more books like this, to fill out the EVE universe even more. If I had to draw negatives out, It is that I was after an even more comprehensive book, In writing this review, I had to reign myself in, and constantly remind myself that EVE: Source is only the backdrop for the goings on in EVE, it is merely the context of the sandbox which all EVE players conduct our antics in. Pretty much every section is accompanied with a great amount of illustration, from concept art to renders, it lends a lot of context to the dark world explained in the passages, and is all of high quality and varied from space vistas to barren battlefields, the macro and the micro. All this is punctuated with character accounts and short stories. Add to that sections specifically related to capsuleers, the player controlled characters in the game, and you have a pretty complete guide the story of EVE. In order to explain EVE's dizzying 10 year pile of written lore, the content is split between EVE's factions, with the history and ideology of each clearly laid out to the reader, doing the best job of any medium of explaining what makes each one tick. EVE: Source is to put it simply, the best single guide to the lore of New Eden available, and while most of the content found within has been available in some lesser form through EVELopedia, for even non subscribers to peruse, this book represents a new level of polish on it all, which long time EVE players will most definitely appreciate. I wasn't entirely sure what EVE: Source was when I pre-ordered it, whether it was an art book, lore guide or history of the universe, but I was happy to see it was all in equal measure.
